Peacock Moss

Peacock Moss, a Taxiphyllum cultivar, gets its name from the way the fronds fan out flat and symmetrical almost like a bird's tail, giving it a more structured, deliberate look than the shaggy chaos of regular java moss. It grows slow and stays compact, making it a favorite for moss walls, tree and rock attachments, or detailed hardscape work where you want a tidy, textured look rather than a wild green mop. Tie it onto driftwood or mesh and it'll anchor itself over a few weeks, filling in denser under moderate light and steady CO2. Shrimp colonies love grazing through the flat fronds, and it holds its shape well even without heavy trimming.
