Nymphoides Hydrophylla

Nymphoides Hydrophylla, often sold as Banana Plant's leafy cousin, grows broad round lily-pad-shaped leaves on short stems that create a striking midground contrast against finer textured plants. It's fast growing under moderate to high light, sending up new leaves regularly and occasionally pushing runners that can be separated into new plants once established. The leaves have a slightly ruffled, glossy look that catches light nicely, making it a favorite for aquascapers wanting visual weight without a full-blown background stem plant. Keep it trimmed back from the surface or it'll form floating pads and start blocking light to everything below it.
